Born on August 25, 1921 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Al Jurisich (Alvin Joseph Jurisich) played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 4 year career. Jurisich broke into the bigs on April 26, 1944 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 3.39 ERA in 130 innings pitched in 1944, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Al Jurisich's best season was 1944, when he posted a 3.39 ERA and struck out 53 batters.
