Born on December 26, 1935 in Waco, Texas, Al Jackson (Alvin Neill Jackson) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 10 year career. Jackson broke into the bigs on June 1, 1959 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 4.40 ERA in 231.1 innings pitched in 1962, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Al Jackson's best season was 1966, when he posted a 2.51 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 90 batters.
