Born on February 25, 1908 in St. Louis, Missouri, Al Hollingsworth (Albert Wayne Hollingsworth) played for the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, Brooklyn Dodgers, Washington Senators, St. Louis Browns and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 11 year career. Hollingsworth broke into the bigs on April 16, 1935 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 3.89 ERA in 173.1 innings pitched in 1935, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Al Hollingsworth's best season was 1942, when he posted a 2.96 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 60 batters.
