Al Gionfriddo (Albert Francis Gionfriddo) was born on March 8, 1922 in Dysart, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on September 23, 1944 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1945, his rookie year, he hit .284 with 2 home runs and 42 RBI. Gionfriddo played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 4 year career.
Most people believe that Al Gionfriddo's best season was 1945, when he hit for a .284 average.
