Born on September 8, 1884 in Quincy, Illinois, Al Demaree (Albert Wentworth Demaree) played for the New York Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and Boston Braves over the course of his 8 year career. Demaree broke into the bigs on September 26, 1912 with the New York Giants, and put up a 2.21 ERA in 199.2 innings pitched in 1913, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Al Demaree's best season was 1916, when he posted a 2.62 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 130 batters.
