Al Dark (Alvin Ralph Dark) was born on January 7, 1922 in Comanche, Oklahoma. He made his Major League debut on July 14, 1946 for the Boston Braves. In 1948, his rookie year, he hit .322 with 3 home runs and 48 RBI. Dark played for the Boston Braves, New York Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Braves over the course of his 14 year career.

Most people believe that Al Dark's best season was 1953, when he slugged 23 home runs, hit for a .300 average and knocked in 88 runs.
