Al Barnes (Allen Marvin Barnes) was born on July 4, 1949 in Los Angeles, California. After going to high school at Pasadena (CA), Barnes attended New Mexico State University. Barnes made his professional debut in the NFL in 1972 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1972 was Al Barnes's best year.
