Against all Odds - Week 4

from http://afraidofedhochuli.blogspot.com
I came in third last week. Why? Stupid Philly and their stupid becoming good again in their stupid baby-blue and pee-yellow jerseys. (No, I’m not bitter).
Anyway, we are on to a new week. This means new stats, new records, and new odds. There are a few that are toss-up games, and I will flip a coin on. But then there are a few no-brainers as well. I will take on long shot and take one large win since last week I took NE with the 15.5, against others chiding me, and got it.
Something new this week will be a little breakdown on WHY I am making this pick. So here it is. Week 4.
Brett Favre is back. They took an emotional, record breaking win over a floundering San Diego team last week, and this week will face a tougher challenge. Both of these teams have solid run defenses so this game will have to be won through the air. And that being said, I must take Favre over whoever is throwing for MIN this week…or is it whomever?
GB-2.5
MIN
Coin said heads. So I take the home team.
OAK
MIA-3.5
The Jets have finally become what some thought they could be…decent. And Buffalo has no one to throw to their talented receiver (Lee Evans). Also, Buffalo’s D is almost as inept as Michael Vick’s attorney. (OOOHHHH SNAP!)
NYJ-3.5
BUF
Speaking of Mike Vick, this team has collapsed under the weight of not having a viable QB. And yes, I was on his bandwagon, but he has NO one to throw too and a defense that is almost as bad as Buffalo. I will take Schaub in his comeback trip to the ATL.
HOU-2.5
ATL
Great Defense vs. Upcoming Offense. Chicago has lost a lot of people do to injury, and the problem with this is that most of them are on Defense. The secondary is depleted and the WR core of Detroit is much better then any other team that they have played. Last year I would have easily said Da Bears…but not this year. First underdog pick.
CHI-2.5
DET
Ummmm…bad Offense vs. bad Offense. Coin flip said tails. Away team.
BAL-4.5
CLE
This is the large win of the week. St Louis is BAD. Dallas is GOOD. I don’t think Dallas is great, but this is not a challenge for them as they MOP the floor with a team that allowed 24 points against Tampa Bay.
STL
DAL-12.5
Speaking of Tampa…their defense seems to be back, and Delhomme is probably on the shelf with an injured elbow.
TB
CAR-2.5
Norv Turner is gone. Alex Smith is pathetic so far this year (51.8% passing and 67.4 rating). They will not beat the Seahawks 2 times this season (like they did against the beat up Hawks last year). This is tough though, because the 9ers are at home. The problem is, Gore hasn’t done anything and they have injuries on D. Gotta go with the Hawks by at least 3.
SEA-1.5
SF
I think we are in agreement that both of these teams suck so far. I think we are all in agreement that these are two of the most highly touted running backs, LT and LJ, and they are both doing NOTHING. I think this is the week that SD gets going, but it won’t be by 12.5. I take SD to win, but KC with the points.
KC
SD-12.5
Pittsburgh is only a 5.5 favorite? Nutty. I will take that.
PIT-5.5
ARI
OOOHHH, big bad Offense takes on a big bad Defense. Blah. Champ and Dre will do well against Reggie and Marvin, but really? They have no shot. IND with the points.
DEN
IND-9.5
Is PHI back? No. They will be better but there is NO way they will repeat that performance…even with the dismal secondary of the Giants. I could throw 3 touchdowns against them.
PHI-2.5
NYG
Only 7.5? NE has scored 38 points in 3 straight and allowed 14, 14, and 7. 7.5 is being nice to Cincy, right? Sorry, bungles.
NE-7.5
CIN
So…that is that. I will be back to you on Monday with the results.
