In the 11th inning home run during Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS, Aaron Boone hit a solo home run off Tim Wakefield to give the New York Yankees a 6-5 victory over the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees won the game and the series on the home run, thus prolonging the Sox' Curse of the Bambino for one more year. Red Sox fans have since dubbed Boone "Aaron F------ Boone," similar to the way Red Sox fans nicknamed Bucky Dent after his home run in the 1978 American League East playoff.
