A tribute to Brad Radke

Dear Brad Radke,

I have hated/admired you for a long time now. Earlier this year when your arm was falling off, I became excited. Excited that one of the great White Sox killers of all time would finally let me sleep at night. But what did you do? You decided that no matter how much pain you were in, you were still good enough to ruin another White Sox season, as you have so often done in the past. I was terrified during every one of your 2nd half starts against the White Sox, as you proceeded to run up your career stats against us. Now that you have finally decided to call it quits(hopefully for good), I must admit that I will be able to sleep more soundly at night knowing a great bane on the White Sox is finally vanquished. Now if only we can do something about Johan Santana, C.C. Sabathia, Mike Sweeney, the entire Twins organization outside of the 2005 team, Francisco Liriano, any left-handed pitcher facing Jim Thome with runners on.............

See you in hell,

Drew

I know he had good games against the Sox, but overall, he had a 4.73 ERA in 36 starts vs. CHW. His best performances came against the Angels, where he sports a career 13-7 record with a 2.09 ERA in 25 starts. He was a good pitcher and a better man.

I appreciate your feedback on my blog. I am sure Brad William Radke has haunted many a major league club in his day. Why he has killed me as a White Sox fan is that since the 2003 season, after July 4th he is 5-1 in 6 starts against the White Sox with a 2.40 ERA. The only loss came this year on a 5 IP, 1 ER effort as his arm was literally dangling from his body. Now I know that doesn't seem like a lot of games, but each one of those had HUGE impact in the division race, as we would always hang close to the Twins to the very end, inevitably trade for Carl Everett and one of the Alomar's, and lose the divison. That being said, that is one pitcher I wouldn't mind on my team any day!

try having your favorite team loose its 2 and 3 spots in its rotation, that hurts, not loosing a fantasy pitcher

First, it is spelled "lose" not "loose." Second, can't they both hurt. Third, I was kind of kidding. Fourth, i've been a Pirates fan my whole life, that hurts.

First, sorry, its before noon. Second no, not really when he hasn't been that great of a fantasy pitcher. Third, oops. Fourth, that trumps all. Although I might beat you by losing Puckett in his prime, that sucked horribly

It's cool, no one can spell those right, so it is one of my pet peeves. Good point with Puckett.

How about losing Darryl Kile in the middle of a fantasy week?

It's one thing to lose a player to retirement or injury, but the Kile reference is really "weak."

Dear Brad William, congratulations on your retirement. You had an exceptionally mediocre career, compiling 148 wins (apparently most of which came vs the WSox and Angels) and 139 losses for an ordinary .519 percentage.

Baseball Reference somewhat favorabley compares your stats to such pitchers as Kevin Tapani and Tim Belcher. Also to Todd Stottlemyre, Andy Benes, and yes, Darryl Kile.

As is obvious with how we feel about the above players, you will truly be missed and missed most when our team is facing your replacement who might actually be a quality MLB pitcher.

Sincerely,

Fans of All Teams (except Angels & White Sox)
