A team to beat? I think so!

Stated in the offseason, Jimmy Rollins stated that the Philadelphia Phillies were the team to beat in the NL East this year. Things looked ominous after starting 4-11 in April. They continued with a roller coaster of a season, sweeping the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets, only to lose a series to the dreadful Royals. Now, they've won 2 in a row, over the White Sox who, while having their struggles, can really take over a game with all that power in the lineup. Here are some reasons why what Rollins said is looking more true everyday.
Cole Hamels (9-2) became the first 9 game winner in the NL and currently leads the league in K's with 104. He's going to be in the running for the Cy Young Award and his changeup seems almost unhittable.
Ryan Howard: He got off to a poor start but he's swinging better and it shows. Hitting home runs in 2 of the last 4 games. Howard can hit for average, power and play small ball and knock in 100+ runs. He's a multi threat that few teams have.
Chase Utley: The name says it all. Arguably the best 2nd baseman in the MLB right now, Utley plays hard everyday never slouching. He has the power to go long, and is on pace for another 100 RBI year. No one plays better ball than him right now.
Shane Victorino/Aaron Rowand/Pat Burrell: Yes, I included Pat Burrell. Regardless of what anyone thinks, Burrell has the ability to hit for power and average. He's a threat everytime he come sup. He's no slouch in the outfield either. He'll make mental mistakes, but he plays hard everyday. I like how Charlie takes Burrell out usually in the 6th or 7th innings and give Bourn a shot. He's looking good as well.
There are many more, but I'd only be redundant. More to come on the upcoming season!
