A sporting weekend ... with a 46-inch flat-screen

During my college years, I made a purchase of a 20-inch flat screen TV from Best Buy. I had been watching sports on my trusty Montgomery Ward TV that my dad had given me for Christmas when I was eight. Well, that TV was used and held up until I was about 22, so it had a good run.
On Thursday, my 20-inch Best Buy special -- an Advent, a name that "means" quality (pfft!) -- was moved from primary sports tube to secondary bowl-game tube and occasional PS2 machine when something else is on.
Why? I know you guys are just dying to know this, but I came into the possession of a Mitsubishi 46-inch flatscreen HDTV on Thursday. I bought it from my database programmer for a paltry $250. Yes, this gargantuan piece of electronic gadgetry came into my possession before the opening kickoff for Thursday's NFL opener and got heavy use this weekend, mostly on Sunday because much of Saturday was spent playing in a disc golf tournament in Womelsdorf, PA.
So now, for the remainder of the football season, I'm set. My NCAA Football 2008 PS2 looks great, I'm looking into the HD hook-up, but now as I sit with laptop on desk, checking one of my five fantasy teams (I believe I'll go 0-5 opening week, FYI), the sporting experience has been upgraded.
This shameless patting on the back is directed at those of you that have such a piece of machinery and make use of it on Sundays all around the country. Next up, officially getting the HD package and the add-on sports package from Comcast (the bastards).
Pointless rant? Absolutely, but the one thing this television does have that comes standard on every television world-wide was put into extreme use at halftime of the Dallas-NY Giants game ....
A mute button.
