Yes I'm an Eagles fan, but I'm unbiased so trust me. I will be doing these match ups for the Eagles as much as I can (I don't write alot of articles on here because well, I'm not the best writer ever)
The great Brett Favre comes up against a vaunting Eagles secondary that has plagued Farve in the past. As I like to say, Brian Dawkins is Favre's favorite receiver. The Packers are looking good this year, with Favre as dangerous as ever, Driver still an underrated WR playing at his best, and an O-Line that will keep Favre from falling on his back (assuming a hip doesn't break).
Breakdown for the Packers: These guys are dangerous, while Favre can still launch the ball down field, they'll hit you underneath alot with Donald Driver, who lead the league last year in short passes caught. He can maneuver for a man over 30. Brandon Jackson and Vernand Morency will not scare any opposing defenses, but you should not underestimate them because of that husky O-Line. This offense is average at best, but it can pull out a few games. As for the defense, that D-Line is nasty. Kampman, Jenkins, KGB are, and should be feared. They will cause havoc on both running and passing plays. The Linebackers, too are dangerous. AJ Hawk and Nick Barnett can go sideline to sideline in a hurry, and will stuff you at the line as well. The CBs aren't overly fast, but they're smart and will make plays on the ball. Especially with safties Collins and Bigby Peprah/Rouse with more than enough speed to help over the top. Woodson and Harris will make plays, with Blackmon coming from the nickel.
Eagles Breakdown: once again, offensively, this team is look great. With the News of TE LJ Smith and G Shawn Andrews practicing again, they look poised to run over the NFC East again. McNabb, when healthy, is a top tier QB. He has the arm power to thread the needle and decent accuracy on all his throws. He's not as mobile as he once was, but he will take off if he has to or roll out to extend the play. The WRs are as average as they come. Reggie Brown is the sure fire #1 this year and he needs to look like it. Dropped passes have hurt him but he looks to be in great shape and ready to take the helm and give the Eagles their first true #1 since T.O. Kevin Curtis is the #2 but will also play out of the slot, where he excels because of his almost unmatched speed. Hank Baskett, who had a good year, will be the #3 with Lewis, and Avant rounding out the WRs. The O-line is one of the tops in the lead, Eagles QBs will not be sacked often, and Westbrook will have tons of lanes to run through. William "Tra" Thomas and Runyan are old, but mean players who can knock almost anyone over. Herrimans is a decent guard, but nothing too special, Shawn Andres is a top 3 guard in the NFL. The Defense looks to be solid this year, with the addition of Spikes, who is coming off major surgery looking to revamp his career, playing with Omar Gaither in the middle and Gocong opposite. Lito Sheppard is a great CB who can be left on an island as can Sheldon Brown, who is vastly overlooked by others because of Sheppard's play. The main Concern, is the Run D, which hopefully gets a boost with Bunkley playing, proving he was worth the #14 pick.
Ugh, as I re-read this I don't like it but, I'm bored. Overall it should be a good game, but The Eagles have advantages everywhere. Jim Johnson will look to rattle Favre with alot of disguised defenses.
Eagles prevail 27-10.
Don't be too harsh on me :[
(PS Trotter signs 1 year deal with the Buccaneers)
