It was a week full of milestones, and one that will not be forgotten for a long time to come.  Legends were made, and controversy swirls.  It’s everything that makes American athletics great.  Well almost everything, now that Walker’s Rants is here we can wrap up this weekend in style.  That’s right Walker’s Rants are a go.

Congratulation Barry Bonds, take your place in baseball immortality.  It doesn’t matter what anyone else says you deserve this…

Congratulation A-Rod… now can you do it in October?

The Braves will catch the Mets for the division title…

The only thing the KG trade accomplished was give every Boston fan yet another thing to be annoying about…

Don't hate Barry... Blame Bud Selig, he is responsible for this...

The Washington Redskins are in trouble this year, Portis won’t be happy with his new role…

Chocolate Rain….

The Dallas Cowboys are better than you thought they were….

I can’t wait to start traveling for college football season…

Tiger Woods back at it again…

Training camp is open and so have the scrimmages.  If you’re a caveman you love this time of year…

Vince Young got into a punch up at practice that’s a good thing…

Congratulations to the 2007 inductees to the NFL Hall of Fame…

The Spurs are still the team to beat in the NBA …

Congratulations to the DC Slayers for making the 2007 AMNRL playoffs…

Dear Charles Oakley, A comeback is not the right career move for you…

Steve Spurrier stop giving Duke a vote in every preseason poll…

Skip Prosser you will be missed…

Joey Harrington ….

Ah click klack…

Hmm...and why are the braves going to win the division...because of there newly acquired first baseman...because they were already better than the mets offensively and are the 6th best run producing team in the MLB...so perhaps...that's not their problem... maybe they should concentrate on that 4.14 team ERA...the mets have a 3.87...oh...and pedro is coming back, they tell me he's pretty good...

Pedro's been out for a long time and has struggled to go past the sixth inning for the last 2 or 3 years what makes you think he is going to improve on that now.

Adding an injured sure-fire HoFer to a rotation featuring another sure-fire Hofer and 3 pitchers with an ERA around 3 probably can't hurt... I've been saying that they shouldn't count on pedro...but getting him is good...

Agreed. I would love a justification as to how the Braves will catch the Mets. Not to doubt it happening, because I don't, but I just want to know what will change in the N.L. East landscape to make this a possibility.

Phillips makes an already stout defense become an agressive defense which is a very good thing because it takes pressure off the safteys

as compared to Parcell's defense? On top of that...a phillips coached, Garrett contructed Romo run offense...doesn't seem appealing...

I love how the bandwagon for some teams gets large after a week of pre-season action. Cowbots with Philips and T.O. are GOING NOWHERE. You can take that to the money bank.

Could have been worse, you could have been the chargers...imo the only worse downgrade then Parcells to phillips was schottenheimer to turner...at least schottenheimer can win regular season games...turner sucks in both situations...if he ever makes the playoffs

Okay Ive been on the cowboys band wagon since Tom Landry was coaching the team. The defense under Parcells was good, but it was not agressive. The only time he coached an agressive defense was with LT and that was because he was such a loose cannon. Phillips will let Ware run and make plays.

I know Bud Selig had a large role in allowing steroids to permeate baseball. But not blame Barry? Put all the blame on Bud? You can't tell me Barry simply took steroids because he knew he wouldn't get caught. He knew exactly what they did for his performance, and he probably continued to use them until Bud came to his senses.

Listen Barry Bonds took steroids. So did Mark Mcquire, Palmero, Sosa, and scores of other athletes who are nameless at this moment. Just because Bonds had the most NATURAL talent out of the bunch, and therefore got the biggest bump from the steroids doesnt mean he should be the target and the poster child of an era.

Selig knew what was going on in his sport and he turned his back on it. He wanted the ticket sales, he wanted the jersey sales and he loved being that baseball was the darling child of the USA as Sosa and Mark went for the record in 98.

I say blame him because he allowed. Every athlete at every level is going to push the envlope to the limit to get every advantage that they can. Its how you play sports you push till someone pushes back and then you know your boundries. Selig gave us no boundries and his neglacence is the reason for all this.

I understand what you're saying, you have to put a TON of the blame on bud. But you can't put all of it on him. There were still multiple players that continued to use and were suspended (albeit none as high profile as the ones you mentioned) under the new drug policy. Until the policy recommends a lifetime ban with one positive, you'll still have your Neifi Perez's and Jason Grimsleys of the world.

Youre going to have them no matter what. Labs will always try to come up with new creams for athletes. Also Athletes will always want to get as close to edge as they can. Its the nature of sports.
