A Turbulent Season Is Over For Parcells and the Boys

Well the only good thing about this postseason loss for the underachieving Dallas Cowboys is that it is over. It has been a long year for that team. Parcells has to be relieved that he does not have to go through hell anymore. It was not a fun year for him. It showed just by his body language in press conferences and sidelines.
Cowboys lost to the Seahawks 21-20 on Saturday night. They were about to win it, but then Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo botched the snap that Cowboys kicker Martin Gramatica was supposed to kick. Instead, Romo had to run to the endzone. He got tackled. Seattle perserved the win. These types of mistakes have haunted the Cowboys all season so it was fitting that their season came to an end based on that.
Cowboys have not played like a fundamental team all season. They have made stupid mistakes time after time. The quarterback and his wide receivers were never on the same page. The defense gave up big plays as the opposing quarterbacks were able to throw the long ball to wide open receivers. The special teams were a mess too. It was so bad that free agent signee Mike Vanderjagt was cut in the season. This is not a Parcells-like team. He normally gets through to his team, but in the last three years, he has failed to get the most out of his team.
Parcells has often seemed disinterested these last two years. Where is the fire? Growing up as a kid watching Parcells do his thing with the Giants, he would demand perfection every game. He would call out his players every game and everyday in practice. He would be snarly. He has not exhibited that in recent years. His close friend, Bobby Knight was on ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike In The Morning this week. Knight talked about how this year really took a toll on him. If that is the case, you have to wonder why he and the Cowboys need to go on. It is probably best if both part ways. The team could get a fresh start and Parcells can recharge his batteries for his next dream job.
It is time to get rid of Terrell Owens. The guy is a loser. He did absolutely nothing this season and odds are that he has reached his peak. He will never be as good as he used to be with the Niners and Eagles. He dropped way too many passes. He gets injured a lot. He sucked the life out of the locker room. He was just a distraction every week. His teammates, Parcells, and the rest of the coaching staff all had to deal with him all year and deal with his questions. Obviously, it is hard to concentrate what the team has to do. Odds are that he played his last game as a Cowboy. One has to hope that he never plays a game in the NFL ever again. It may just happen.
Romo did a good job, but he fizzled down the stretch. He was turning the ball over and he made dumb decisions. He did okay in his first playoff game, but he has a lot to learn. It will not get any better for him when he has to learn plays from the new coaching staff most likely.
For Romo to be successful next year, he could use some receivers who can catch the ball. They were brutal at times in that playoff game at Seattle.
This team is far, far away to the Super Bowl. Sure they got some young, core players, but they still have so many holes. They are probably better off continuing building around more young players instead of bringing aging vetearns. They can use a new head coach who will provide more enthauism, competency, and effort to this position.
Parcells has created a bad malaise for this team. This is as good as it is going to get for him especially when you consider that he hasn't won a playoff game since Belichick cut the emblical cord from him.
This season was a complete waste of time for anyone associated with the Cowboys.
ESPN should be ashamed of themselves for overhyping that team. This should be another reason why we should be thankful that their season has mercifully come to an end.

That being said, do I want him on my team? Hell no... but don't say he did "absolutely nothing" this year. He is still a stud, and if a team like Atlanta or Tennessee takes a chance on him, he could have four more great years left.
