A Turbulent Season Is Over For Parcells and the Boys

Well the only good thing about this postseason loss for the underachieving Dallas Cowboys is that it is over. It has been a long year for that team. Parcells has to be relieved that he does not have to go through hell anymore. It was not a fun year for him. It showed just by his body language in press conferences and sidelines.

Cowboys lost to the Seahawks 21-20 on Saturday night. They were about to win it, but then Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo botched the snap that Cowboys kicker Martin Gramatica was supposed to kick. Instead, Romo had to run to the endzone. He got tackled. Seattle perserved the win. These types of mistakes have haunted the Cowboys all season so it was fitting that their season came to an end based on that.

Cowboys have not played like a fundamental team all season. They have made stupid mistakes time after time. The quarterback and his wide receivers were never on the same page. The defense gave up big plays as the opposing quarterbacks were able to throw the long ball to wide open receivers. The special teams were a mess too. It was so bad that free agent signee Mike Vanderjagt was cut in the season. This is not a Parcells-like team. He normally gets through to his team, but in the last three years, he has failed to get the most out of his team.

Parcells has often seemed disinterested these last two years. Where is the fire? Growing up as a kid watching Parcells do his thing with the Giants, he would demand perfection every game. He would call out his players every game and everyday in practice. He would be snarly. He has not exhibited that in recent years. His close friend, Bobby Knight was on ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike In The Morning this week. Knight talked about how this year really took a toll on him. If that is the case, you have to wonder why he and the Cowboys need to go on. It is probably best if both part ways. The team could get a fresh start and Parcells can recharge his batteries for his next dream job.

It is time to get rid of Terrell Owens. The guy is a loser. He did absolutely nothing this season and odds are that he has reached his peak. He will never be as good as he used to be with the Niners and Eagles. He dropped way too many passes. He gets injured a lot. He sucked the life out of the locker room. He was just a distraction every week. His teammates, Parcells, and the rest of the coaching staff all had to deal with him all year and deal with his questions. Obviously, it is hard to concentrate what the team has to do. Odds are that he played his last game as a Cowboy. One has to hope that he never plays a game in the NFL ever again. It may just happen.

Romo did a good job, but he fizzled down the stretch. He was turning the ball over and he made dumb decisions. He did okay in his first playoff game, but he has a lot to learn. It will not get any better for him when he has to learn plays from the new coaching staff most likely.

For Romo to be successful next year, he could use some receivers who can catch the ball. They were brutal at times in that playoff game at Seattle.

This team is far, far away to the Super Bowl. Sure they got some young, core players, but they still have so many holes. They are probably better off continuing building around more young players instead of bringing aging vetearns. They can use a new head coach who will provide more enthauism, competency, and effort to this position.

Parcells has created a bad malaise for this team. This is as good as it is going to get for him especially when you consider that he hasn't won a playoff game since Belichick cut the emblical cord from him.

This season was a complete waste of time for anyone associated with the Cowboys.

ESPN should be ashamed of themselves for overhyping that team. This should be another reason why we should be thankful that their season has mercifully come to an end.

Stressful or not, you can bet your ass that Parcells rather be coaching next week against Chicago rather than going home. The Cowboys are a flawed team. The T.O. experient was a complete wreck. He caught more TD's than any other reciever but the dropped balls, and all the off the field crap makes it hard for anyone to run a team.

Romo mania got over hyped. Romo is a good kid with the potentiaal to be a good football player, but he needs to keep his head down and focus onthe game rather than listen to the rumors of who is dating.

As far as Parcells, the boys need to hold on to him for another season. He can still do some good for Dallas. Also the coaching well this year is drying up at this point. There will be plenty of big name talented coaches available at the end of next season thats when the Boys want to make their move

I can't see how you guys say the TO thing was a wreck. He went 85-1180-13, and the 13 TD led the NFL. He was one of the best WR in the NFL again this year. He did drop a lot of passes, but his presence alone forced defenses to change their schemes.
That being said, do I want him on my team? Hell no... but don't say he did "absolutely nothing" this year. He is still a stud, and if a team like Atlanta or Tennessee takes a chance on him, he could have four more great years left.

True, his stats were impressive, but he is kind of like the A-Rod of football, he never really made the big gamechanging plays. The Cowboys couldnt go to him to make the important plays on fourth down, or catch the game winner. On at least 3 different occasions the Cowboys went to him on key plays and he dropped the ball.

With all due respect Pup, he is nothing like AROD. TO is a walking tornado, stirring up controversy everywhere he goes. AROD shows up to work every day, and the only time you hear about him in the media is when writers have nothing to write about.
People forget that AROD hit .371 in the playoffs over his first 70 at bats. Even now, with two memorably bad playoff performances, he's still has a lifetime .280 average in the playoffs, which isn't far off his reg. season career .305 mark.

Terrell Goes home... (The new title of his next book) Would it be hilarious if the two teams he's most recently spurned (Eagles and Ravens) met in the Super Bowl? ESPECIALLY with Jeff Garcia at QB? It would make me smile... =)

I heard that Jerry Jones that T.O. is definitely coming back next season. Is that quote accurate?

All indications are showing that Jerry Jones will do what it takes to bring TO back.

Thanks for responding and thanks for voting, folks. I just think Parcells lost his players and it showed on the field. It happens to great coaches. As for T.O., I doubt any team wants to deal with the package that comes with him. Parcells never wanted T.O. Jerry Jones did.

It replaces the pain caued by Tommy Hutton fumbling away a field goal placement for the Eagles in 2007, resulting in an "L". Do my fellow Eagles fans remember that game.

I feel bad for Romo.

He is a good kid who deserved a better fit.

I will say this. He cared and he showed emotion. I wish Eli Manning would do the same.
