The Tribe had a fantastic season. I know I predicted them in 3rd or 4th coming into the season, and I was dead wrong. You'd better bet that I won't make that mistake next year. I will continue to be scared sh#tless of the Indians for years to come.

Why wouldn't you take a chance on Mariano Rivera? He's still very impressive as a closer, and he's got to be less nerve-wracking than Borowski.

Carmona and Sabathia had great seasons but are not ready to be great pitchers. Their performance in this Post Season has shown us that. Nonetheless, the Tribe had a great year and may be able to draw upon their experience from this in the future. Although it is far from a given that they will get this far again. GO ROCKIES!!!

Maybe the Indians should consider going easy on Sabathia and Carmona in the regular season. Carmona threw 215 innings this year, after being a reliever last season. Sabathia threw 241 innings, almost 50 more than last season. I'm a big fan of starters going deep into games, but at some point it starts to wear on the pitcher, especially if they're not used to it. Maybe that is why they looked so poorly in the playoffs.

Regarding your closer situation, because of him getting 45 saves, and good relief being so hard to come by, Borowski might get a big offer from another team, and he just isn't worth it. You guys also have a very good reliever already on your team in Rafael Betancourt. His numbers are phenomenal, and apart from Game 7, he had a great post-season.

68 Appearances, 79.1 IP, 51 H, 13 ER, 4 HR, 9 BB, 80 K, 5-1 W-L, 31 Holds, 3 Blown Saves, 1.48 ERA, 0.756 WHIP, 8.89 K/BB, 9.1 K/9IP, .183 Opponents' Average.

He's good.

Borowski has a team option for $4 million. Unless his arm falls off, I suspect that the Indians would pick up that option. However, I also think that if the Tribe is serious about Rivera, Borowski would move back into a setup role. He was willing to setup for Foulke before the season started and that weasel bagged on the season.

Good article, I am a cpcp. I actually thought that the Indians would defeat the Red Sox, but I guess I was mistaken. It's a shame that the Indians' season ended so dramatically. I would've loved to see them play against the rockies in the World Series if it wasn't the Red Sox.

Great post... The Indians deserved to go to the World Series just as much (if not more) than Boston this year... they had a great run ending in what will be one of the most memorable series for me in baseball history...

The Indians have a bright future, but as Raw pointed out, it wouldnt hurt to have Sabathaia and Carmona have a bit of breather during the season so that they can be fresh for October. Especially with Sabathia, he probably had his worst three start stretch of his season during the playoffs, and it must have been from being worked way too hard, with over 240 innings. Josh Beckett pitched almost 40 innings less, and is looking great right. That is definitely not a coincidence.
