A Syracuse University Football Player I Can Be Proud Of...

So all these media people are saying, "Who the fack is Anthony Smith? Why the hell is he guaranteeing a win vs. the New England Patriots?"
Well, media people, I know who Anthony Smith is. I knew him in September of 2005, when he was the one bright spot on the worst team in the history of Syracuse University football during my freshman year. Smith was a First Team All-Big East safety his senior year, when he had six interceptions and three sacks in starting every game at free safety. He's third in school history with 293 tackles as a defensive back. He was a third round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2006 draft. On draft day, I was stoked at a Syracuse guy being drafted from such an atrocious football team.
Fast forward to today. I haven't heard anything from Smith since then, and most of you probably had never heard of him in the first place. He has the onions (or, more appropriately, the Oranges) to guarantee a win against the undefeated Patriots on Sunday. He also said he believed the Cincinnati Bengals receivers were better than Walker and Moss. That's not a typ-o. He said Walker, but he's obviously referring to Wes W-E-L-K-E-R, aka the closest thing the NFL will ever have to Chuck Norris.
Now Mr. Smith laid some pretty good hits on people during his final season on the hill. I got news for him: this ain't the Big East. Harry Douglas and Pat White aren't walking through that door. Randy Moss isn't the most physical guy in the world, but I'd like to think Wes Welker will want to stone him. Knock him out cold. He wants to do that everyone that tries to tackle him anyway, much less someone who intentionally screws up his name.
So Anthony, if I didn't thank you for a fine senior season at the Cuse, I'm thanking you now for basically getting the Patriots as motivated as they've been all season. Good luck against Welker, Texas Ranger.
