A New Curse! This One's Legit!

Hi everyone! Good to be back, albeit for a short time. As I expected, schoolwork, my flipping sweet internship, the New England Patriots awesomeness, the Boston Red Sox hanging by a thread, and other things have consumed my life. I will try to be more regular. I miss spending hours on end here during my office job over the summer. Anywho...

I was watching ESPN this afternoon. I saw the Monday Night Football commercial they had originally aired before the season started, and they had the "MNF returns..." It features Tirico (I met him, by the way-nicest guy in the world), Jaws and Kornheiser whistling or humming or whatever to the MNF song. Interspersed with the play-by-play guys are three football stars:

Chad Johnson. Reggie Bush. Antonio Gates.

Seems cool, right? Three legitimate stars in the league on three teams that have high to very high expectations for the 2007 season.

Chad Johnson is on the Bengals. Reggie Bush is on the Saints. Antonio Gates is on the Chargers. I'm sure you're all aware of this, but I'm just reiterating for effect.

The Bengals, Saints, and Chargers are a combined 2-9 through four weeks of the NFL season. Ocho Cinco just got his ass handed to him on MNF. Reggie has only scored twice and his teammate, Deuce McAllister, is out for the year. Gates has scored only twice, and his teammate (typically idolized for being one of the classiest players in the league) is being a whiny little bitch.

COINCIDENCE????? I THINK NOT! THE MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL PROMO CURSE IS BORN!

Just because its happened once doesn't make it a curse... just a coincidence... you would need evidence from years past to make this curse legit...

Not really legit. Jinx' need history behind them. If you get the last 5+ year athletes and they've had bad seasons too, then it can be considered a jinx.

Can't speak for Bush or Johnson, but LT's curse is easy: His name is Norv Turner.

You think Norv Turner is a juggernaut playoff coach, sort of like the opposite of what Marty Schottenheimer was? Too bad we'll never find out.

The one year Norv actually made it to the playoffs as a head coach with the Redskins, he got bounced in the wild card game.
