A New Beginning...

It's funny, the calendar says that the week begins on Sunday, but for most people the week begins Monday. People go to work on Monday and treat the weekend like, well, the week END. The sports world is no different. For baseball teams, it is the end of one series and the beginning of another. And, let's face it, the football world knows that there is a difference between a nice long Sunday afternoon and the horrible feeling of waking up Monday morning to go back to the usual schedule. This weekend was week 2 in the NFL and a huge weekend in baseball and not to mention plenty of other sports. So here we go...a list of things I think about sports in the last week or so:

Tiger Woods can't be stopped by anybody, the guy could have gone out on the course blindfolded and won Sunday.

Who is Derek Anderson? And where did this offense of the Browns come from?

The Yankees win the series over the Red Sox 2-1, and for some reason, the series didn't have as much build up as I would expect. All I heard about was Roger Clemens pitching Sunday night. Oh, that's right, maybe because ESPN wanted the ratings specifically for that game so they built up that one game.

Yeah, the Patriots cheated. So what? Will they do it again? who knows. But they don't need to because they destroyed the 2nd best team in the NFL.

The New York Giants are an embarrassment to society. Derek Anderson could have put up 100 points on them yesterday.

How come Kevin Everett is getting more coverage than David Pollack got when the same thing happened to him?

Does anybody care about the Women's World Cup? Didn't think so.

What about the WNBA Finals? No didn't think so either.

O.J. Simpson is so incredibly desperate for money that he had to go and steal his memorabilia back. Too bad Johnnie Cochran isn't around to defend him this time.

Notre Dame is perhaps the biggest disappointment in the last 10 years. They may not win a game this year.

Jim Thome hit his 500th homerun, and nobody noticed. That is not easy to do.

The New Orleans Saints may have been a one hit wonder. At least they picked the right year to do it.

Fantasy Football is the reason why everybody is suddenly paying attention to every game. The cable and satellite companies should be thanking the guy that created fantasy football.

If the Browns score that many points again this season, I will no longer watch a game of football as long as I shall live.

I'm really not sure what the Minnesota Vikings are thinking with Tarvaris Jackson at QB, unless they are really excited about the QBs in this upcoming draft because they are going to secure a good pick.

The Mets have been dominated by the Phillies this season, yet still lead the NL East by 3 1/2 games. But Cole Hamels should be back on Tuesday, and the Phillies will instantly take the East lead by 15 games because of Cole being there.

I think I watch too much sports.
