A Case of the Dropsies

From: http://afraidofedhochuli.blogspot.com/ I am bitter. I have been bitter for a while. Why? Because my hometown team traded their best (not most consistent) receiver to an inter-divisional rival.
The Seahawks made a draft day trade that sent Darrell Jackson to the 49ers. That is weird, strange and possibly down right stupid.
But Monday Night Football made me feel a lot better.
I always hope that ex-players do poorly. I don’t want to see injuries, but I really liked seeing Ken Hamlin get beat by the Giants on Sunday Night. I liked watching Jerramy Stevens fumble a [1] ball on Sunday, and I LOVED watching Darrell Jackson drop 2 passes (by my count) on Monday Night Football.
This is a guy they said we would miss. This is a guy they said we were stupid for trading. I agree with both of those statements, but the guy (to use a cliché) was a cancer in the locker room. He wouldn’t practice all week then come in and expect to be the number one (which they gladly did). He is the reason Joe Jurevicious left. D-Jack had also been complaining openly about his contract situation. And above all he was second in the league last year with 11 dropped passes in only 13 games.
[2] So they got rid of him. And I was okay with that. But to the 9ers? A team that beat you twice last year? That was suspect. So I was intrigued by last night’s MNF game.
As I said I am bitter. So I clapped when a first down pass went through his fingers. I cheered out loud when the Touchdown pass went through his hands. I am glad that happened.
Why? Because I know he can catch the ball, but the guy is injured constantly, he can’t hold on to the ball when it matters, and he feels like he needs to be in the spotlight constantly.
And he was in the spotlight. And he blew it. And I am smiling right now.
