Beckett has currently thrown 39 pitches so far, with 26 of them being strikes, and 13 of them being balls. I'd say that's a lot better than what CC has done.. both in the strike/ball ratio, and the amount he has pitched.

People forget (or don't know) Beckett's been in the ML since he was 21. He's won a Game 7 of a World Series, and a clinching NLCS game. In his seven seasons, he's had none in which he gave up more hits than innings pitched. For a young pitcher, that's almost unheard of. All he needed to do was learn how to pitch at this level.

I think we are seeing the next great pitcher, better than Santana, better than Peavy, better than all of them. For the next 10 years or so, Beckett will be an All Star, close to a 20 game winner, and a Cy Young contender.

Pay attention you Red Sox fans, because pitchers like this come along once in a generation. Clemens, Pedro and Beckett.
