Boise State has not played yet. Voters should keep that in mind if voting before that game is over. They play Sunday night.

I want to see RU play Louisville in a few weeks!!! Both teams might go into the Thursday night spectacular undefeated. It will be good for the country to see some good Big East football with a lot of homegrown Jersey kids.

Once again, we see early on the problems with the BCS. According to the computers, the teams are ranked as follows:

1. USC
2. Michigan
3. Ohio State
4. Florida
5. Auburn
6. California
7. Notre Dame
8. Arkansas
9. Rutgers
10. Louisville

No sign of Texas, West Virginia or Tennessee in the top 10. The computers have them at 15, 14, and 12, respectively. Anyone else think that sounds right? Tennessee crushed Cal and Georgia, but they're 6 spots behind Cal. Texas at number 15 after playing Ohio State and after defeating Oklahoma, even though Rutgers is at number 9 against their cupcake schedule. And USC is number one, when they've struggled the last couple of weeks, and their biggest win was against Nebraska (which the computers rank at 19). There's nothing glaring, and I'm sure it's nothing that won't get worked out as the season progresses, but here in the first week of the BCS, I find it funny that Texas is behind Notre Dame, and Tennessee is behind California.

aswaff- don't they still go by the bcs rank? the cpu is just part of the ranking used by the bcs system. and as you stated, it will work itself out by the end of the season. i still think college football needs a playoffs for the top 16.

Yes, the computers are just part of it. But that's my point - these computers really hurt teams sometimes. UT wouldn't be at number nine if the computers didn't have it so horribly wrong. They're number five or six in the human polls, but that number 15 ranking pulls them down to number nine, while Rutgers' number nine ranking puts them at an overall rating that is much higher than they deserve.

Isn't it just a little bit possible that the computers are (more) correct than the pollsters? If Rutgers goes into the season ranked in the top 10, there's no way anyone's complaining about their computer ranking. Rutgers schedule is no better than West Virginia's, but because WVU started in the top ten, it's a travesty that the computers have them so low and Rutgers so high.
