[edit] Biography
The grandson of the legendary A.J. Foyt, the younger Foyt has followed in his footsteps by racing IndyCars. When he first debuted in the Indy Racing League, he became the youngest to ever start in series history. Likewise, he is the youngest driver to start the Indianapolis 500, which he did on his 19th birthday.
A.J. spent his first three seasons driving for Grandpa. In that time, however, the team struggled mightily. Foyt would not finish in the top 10 at any race until the opening race in Homestead. He briefly attempted to drive stock cars in 2005 and 2006, but ran only a few Busch series events.
Foyt made his return to IndyCars for the 2006 finale, where he subbed for Dario Franchitti and Andretti Green Racing.
In 2007, Foyt signed on with Vision Racing. With the team he completed his best career finish, a 3rd place at Kentucky Speedway.
