This week's battle of the unbeatens, Pats (5-0) at the Cowboys (5-0), was a great game. The NE Pats, as expected, came out on top with a 48-27 win. The big story in this game, though, was the matchup of two pro bowl wideouts (both #81) Randy Moss of NE, and Terrell Owens of Dal. Neither of them had what you would call a "fantastic day", but they both caught a TD pass. Moss caught 6 passes for 59 yards, and a TD, while T.O. also caught 6 passes for 66 yards, and a TD. Owens let down the 'Boys fans that were expecting a 10 catch, 100+ yard performance, but instead had to settle for a mediocre performance.
Both QB's had great games. Tom Brady went 31 for 46, 388 passing yards, and 5 TD's without an INT. Romo went 18 for 29, 199 yards, and 2 TD's, with 1 INT. The edge goes to Owens, but Moss didn't get many touches because Brady has more targets to throw to. Randy's teammates, Wes Welker and Donte Stallworth were the targeted receivers. Stallworth caught 7 passes for 136 yards, and 1 TD, and Welker caught 11 passes for 124 yards, and 2 TD. Even TE Kyle Brady caught a TD, on a 1-yard pass from Brady in the third quarter. The edge is given to T.O. when you look at the stats, but the Pats won the game, and Moss was really used as a decoy. The Cowboys had 2-3 guys on Moss all game, which left Welker, Stallworth, and TE Kyle Brady open. So, even when Moss isn't making catches, he is helping out this 6-0 team win ball games, and it seems as though Moss has excepted that role, he just wants to win.
Owens, not surprisingly, made this game much more exciting early in the week, after posting up a letter to the media on his locker. The letter pretty much said that he would answer all questions about this week's game, after the game, and then he wrote P.S. getcha popcorn ready! It appears as though T.O. has let down the Cowboys fans in Dallas.
