2010 World Cup - AFC Qualifying

Asian Qualifying for the 2010 World Cup with consist of 5 rounds:

1. Teams were seeded based on 2006 World Cup/qualifier performances. The five finalists (Australia, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Iran) will begin qualifying in the third round. The remaining teams will play two-leg aggregate playoffs.
2. The eight lowest seeded winners from the first round will play two-leg aggregate playoffs.
3. The remaining 20 teams will play in 5 groups of 4, with the top 2 teams advancing.
4. Two groups of five will play home and away. Top two in each group automatically qualify for World Cup.
5. Third Place finishers in Fourth Round playoff to face OFC winner for Intercontinental Playoff.
