The 2008-09 NBA season was the 63rd season of the National Basketball Association. The regular season began on October 28, 2008 and ran through April 15, 2009. The league fielded 30 teams, each playing an 82 game regular season schedule. The top eight seeds from each conference reached the NBA Playoffs, which began on April 18, 2009 and ended on June 14, 2008. The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Orlando Magic, 99-86, to win the 2009 NBA Finals, four games to one.
