2007 a Special Year For Boston Sports

17
Vote

by Sox 07 World Series Champs

After watching last night's Red Sox game, it's pretty clear that this year (2007) will be an amazingly special year. Let's investigate some things that are going to happen.

1. No other city in the history of sports has had TWO different teams win in the same year. Boston did this in 2004, but the Red Sox had to barely beat the Yankees, and Vineteri had to kick a last second field goal to win the Superbowl. The streets of Boston were probably crazy in 2004, but I think this year will be even crazier because both teams are better.

2. No NFL team has ever gone undefeated (well technically the Dolphins did, but I think that doesn't count because they were in the AFL at the time or something). With the New England Patriots at 4-0, they are dominating everyone. I don't see who they can lose to.

3. Tom Brady with Randy Moss are going to set the record

It's good to be a Bostonian!

If I said any generalization "People are _________" to 10 average people.

3 would say "Yeah we are"

3 would say "Yeah they are"

3 would take it personal and get offended

1 would tell me how great the Red Sox are

If you get offended by something, it might be because you think it's true. Otherwise, WHY would you get offended?

Ok Manny, by that logic that people get offended by generalizations because they're true, if I went up to a black guy and said "All black people are stupid" and he got offended, you think that would mean he thought it was true?

If you want to say "most Red Sox fans are stupid" that's fine, I might even agree with you there because Sox fans are people and most people are stupid. But when you make all encompassing generalizations about Red Sox fans, I'm going to get pissed off because...

1. You don't know every single Red Sox fan

2. I'm a Red Sox fan and I'm not stupid

If you keep arguing with me that there are exceptions to every generalization, I will accept it as fact that you are indeed stupid.

(OF COURSE THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS to every generalization - THAT'S what makes them generalizations; they are GENERALLY true - they aren't UNIVERSALIZATIONS - and if my generalizations aren't about you DIRECTLY then DON'T BE OFFENDED and LAUGH ALONG. And if it hurts you that there are stupid fans rooting for your team, don't ever make similar comments about anyone else's fanbase you panties-in-a-bunch-er)

Stop reading other's external projections and taking them internally personal. There's more people in the world than you and the people you know.

Manny, calling me a "panty-in-a-buncher" over the internet really demonstrates your maturity level. I'll get pissed off at what I want to get pissed off at. The thing that pisses me off the most is idiocy, which is probably why I get so pissed off at you. You're not the Lord of AGM, Manny. Get off your high horse. And stop talking shit about my team and my fellow fans. You want to pick out individual fans and give them shit, like the guy who wrote this crappy article, be my guest, I'll even join in on the fun. But you take every bit of optimism by a Boston fan and turn it into some unholy hatred for all the fans of Boston sports. You have such anti-Boston blinders on that yesterday you completely mistook a comment of mine to be serious and not a joke. I'm still waiting for an apology on that one, but I'm not holding my breath.

Dear Rawb, Good one. You showed me. Maybe I should be more mature... I think it shows my creativity more than my maturity level, or have you completely mistaken my comment? Oops! It appears your panties ARE indeed in a bunch!

Maybe you should take that high horse you're on and shove it up your high and mighty ass. It will give the panties, the knickers, the rod and whatever else that's up there already a tad bit of company.

There's a fine line about 1,000,000 light years wide between "Optimism" and "Insatiable Myopia". I'm not blaming you that it became fasionable to root for winners but you certainly seem to want to accept the responsibility for a zealous and uninformed fanbase - have at it.

If you have no problem with me picking on an "individual fan and give them shit", well then... you just nominated yourself, didn't you?

It's a personal policy of mine not to apologize for all of the mistakes I make or I'd never have the time to make more mistakes. I also don't think it's my fault your jokes aren't funny and I "mistake" them for being serious...

Maybe you should apologize to yourself.

With Love, The Lord of Armchair (Thanks for nominating me), Manny Stiles
