2007 NFC East Preview

by Sportprojections

Loyal bloggers from each NFC East team have contributed to our 2007 NFC East Football Preview. They created a preview for their teams, a win-loss prediction for each game, predicted their team MVP, and projected the final standings in the NFC East for this upcoming season. Click on each team name to visit its page and read its season preview. You’ll also find the latest news from local newspapers, team sites, and bloggers for each team.

The 2006 NFC East Final Standings

1) Philadelphia Eagles 10-6 5-1
2) Dallas Cowboys 9-7 2-4
3) New York Giants 8-8 4-2
4) Washington Redskins 5-11 1-5

The 2006 NFC East results cause questions for the upcoming season:

The Philadelphia Eagles finished the season on a five-game win streak and won the NFC East. Donovan McNabb returns to the lineup and has the opportunity to run the offense for the first time under Marty Morninweg’s direction. The question always looms whether McNabb can stay healthy all year long. The Eagles will depend on his health since Jeff Garcia won’t be his backup this year.

Tony Romo took over the QB position for the Cowboys midway through the season and was a huge success immediately. Teams finally caught up to him, but expectations continue to be huge in his first starting season. It will be interesting to see how the team reacts to Wade Phillips’ philosophy.

The New York Giants were third in the division. They start their new running game this year without Tiki Barber. Will Brandon Jacobs make Giants’ fans forget him quickly? Will he hold onto the ball this season? Will Eli Manning continue to develop and reach his potential?

Jason Campbell has all the weight on his shoulders in Washington this season. Joe Gibbs has had success with many quarterbacks. He hopes Campbell will be added to his list. Clinton Portis will need to stay healthy in order for him to be a huge asset to the offense.

The bloggers have given us their predictions, and this is how they see the 2007 NFC East unfolding:

1)Philadelphia Eagles
2)Dallas Cowboys
3)Washington Redskins
4)New York Giants

Once again, click on the team name to view its preseason preview and to vote for how the team will place this season. We want to thank all the contributors for their time and willingness to help us with our preview.

"The Eagles will depend on his health since Jeff Garcia won’t be his backup this year." - You know, the eagles have A.J. Feeley, Kelly Holcomb and Kevin Kolb at QB right? (Plus McNabb starting)...so they actualy have really good depth at QB... I've heard so rumors about trading Holcomb for a 7th rounder or potentially a 6th depending on camp outcomes

Really if Feeley and Holcomb are what you are banking on then you ar ein trouble and better hope McNabb can actually finish a season.

A.J. is 5-1 as an Eagle... And he's a backup, not the starter...remember, people left Garcia for dead after his less than stellar years with the Browns and Lions...

Very True...

I think the Tony Hunt factor this year will be very interesting...not that he'll take away westbrook carries so much as he could be a very powerful third down back...

I'm envision Westbrook splitting out wide a little bit more than the last 2 years...

Be free to post what you want, but please, PLEASE not kelly Holcomb, if you think he is viable for QB depth, you need to lay off the coke.

Any idiot who thinks Holocomb is useful should probably watch golf. So just, please, take your biased, homer self to philadephiaeagles.com with the rest of my fellow uneducated fans

The real question for the 07 season is when will Joe Gibbs role the old number 8 car out of the garage inplace of Jason Cambell

No explanation to why the Eagles are 1, Cowboys 2, Redskins 3, Giants 4?

He's an Eagles fan. They are one of the most underrated rivals in all of sports. Everyone talks Redskins and Cowboys, the real rivalry is Cowboys and Eagles.

I'm sorry Ju, but the Eagles can't win anything unless McNabb is healthy. The Giants are by far the most incompetent team I've ever seen, and what are the Redskins going to do?

Giants management is incompetent...so is coughlin... Of course, I always think the eagles are gonna be good when they are, in fact, good. We'll see what happens this year...

eagles- mcnabb will be heatlthy and with the team running westbrook more mcnabb will stay healthy moreover defense is improved with the addition of spikes and with bunkley starting

cowboys- romo second year, expect him to play fairly well he wasnt as good as he looked in 06 or that bad. watch out for t.o. without parcells their to control his ego he might get the talking Skins- portis and betts are a good running tandem, the defense should be good too, only question is cambell look out for skins next year.

Giants- After losing their offense (Tiki) lets just hope Coughlin doesnt rely on eli, that could lead to trouble and with strahan on his way out as well the defense will suffer too.

Parcells HARDLY controlled TO's ego. TO's ego controlled itself. He couldn't really say much with 15 dropped passes, around 5 of them being clutch passes that ended up ccosting the game.

Its an underreported story...but will TO change his tune this year? Does Romo feel heat if TO doesn't get balls? What if Dallas has a bad year, how does TO react? I mean, its a good thing TO isn't all over the headlines...but no one is talking about this

It's not making headlines because it's not a factor. Romo loves TO, he's his favorite target, there is no pressure. That's like saying, I love chocolate and I need to gain 50 pounds, how will I perform under pressure of eating that chocolate?

Eagles should be fine aslong as Mcnabb stays healthy. As for the Cowboys Romo will have to live up to big expectaions after last years season. The Redskins have a bright spot in the fact that starting qb jason campbell will finally have his 1st full season with the starting job. Finally the giants. they have alot to prove with tom coughlin on the hot seat and strahan curentley holding out who knows what will happen next to them. Also Eli must prove doubters if he was worth it itn the 1st place at all to go out and get.

The NFC East could go in any order this year. Question marks at quarterback for all four teams; all four starters have shown ability or huge potential but each has issues of injuries, inconsistency, or inexperience. All four coaches have histories of good with some recent bad. Honestly, there's so much parity in the NFL that I don't pay any attention to previews any more.
