Why should you draft Drew Brees: Last season, Drew Brees had 4418 passing yards and 26 total touchdowns. He also had eight games where he eclipsed 300 passing yards, including Week 11, when he torched the Bengals through the air for 510 yards, and he had seven games where threw multiple touchdowns, including Week 12, where he passed for five scores against the Cowboys.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Drew Brees: Brees has ended the last two seasons with significant arm injuries. Despite playing in every regular season game the last two years, he still has to be considered a huge fantasy risk as he is not a big guy and appears very susceptible to key injuries. Last season, Brees had six games where he failed to throw for at least 200 passing yards, and nine contests where he was limited to one touchdown pass or less.
Bottom Line: Brees has joined the upper echelon of fantasy quarterbacks, and he will not make it out of the second round in most drafts. There are some concerns regarding his ability to stay healthy, but he is a high risk, high reward player, and he is well worth the gamble towards the end of the second round or beyond.
