Why should you draft Brett Favre: At this stage of his career, Brett Favre is backup fantasy quarterback. That being said, Favre hasn't missed a game since 1992, and he can be cemented in for throwing over 3000 yards, which is the kind of production and reliability that fantasy owners want from their bench. Since joining the Packers in 1992, Favre has never thrown fewer than 18 touchdown passes in a single season. Not to mention, it wasn't that long ago (2004) that he threw for 4088 yards and 30 touchdowns.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Brett Favre: Over the last four seasons, Favre has averaged nearly 22 interceptions and almost seven fumbles. In his prime, Favre was a lock to pass for more than 30 touchdowns, but over the past two seasons, he is averaging a pedestrian 19 touchdown tosses. Obviously, Favre has not had much firepower at his disposal since the departure of Javon Walker, but one can't help but think that this gunslinger is eventually going to run out of bullets. In other words, with the Packers not bringing in any high profile playmakers on offense this past off-season, Favre will once again be asked to try an win a gun fight, while only being given a knife.
Bottom Line: Favre should be viewed a serviceable No.2 Quarterback in fantasy, and with his refusal to miss games and knack for throwing touchdowns, he is a great value in the later rounds.
