Okay folks here's the scoop. Milt Stegall is about to break the CFL all time touchdown record this year. Can they win the Grey Cup?
Milt Stegall and the rest of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers seem to be keen on quarterback Kevin Glenn but most fans are not. This is Kevin Glenn's year. If he fails, no Grey Cup for the final year of Milt Stegall's amazing career. If he succeeds then whoa Nelly... a Grey Cup victory!
I personally don't feel the Blue Bombers are up to par with many of the teams in the CFL. One of the best receivers in CFL history, and arguably one of the best running backs ( Charles Roberts) as well, cannot carry this team all the way to the Grey Cup.
The Blue Bomber defence will have to come up big and gel fast. The past few years the Bomber defense has really blown but slowly gotten better with constant tweaking and key acquisitions. Man, that Juran Bolden rumour had me salivating, if he had shown up it would have been possibly the answer we needed.
Defense aside, it all comes back to Kevin Glenn. He now should have the experience to lead the team. He is not going to make huge big plays but hopefully can eliminate some of his horrible mistakes that has plagued him in the past. Unfortunately as much as I wish it, I feel the Bombers will not have the talent to cut it.
My take on how the 2007 Standings will pan out:
West Final
BC Lions over Edmonton Eskimos
East Final
Montreal Alouettes over Winnipeg Blue Bombers
BC Lions over Montreal Alouettes
