The 2006 Big 12 college football season was once again was led by Oklahoma and Texas. Nebraska turned things around in their season as soon as they played their conference schedule in order to win the North division. The biggest news might have been the downfall of the Colorado Buffaloes. The Big 12 didn’t impress in the bowl games at the end of the year with a 3-5 record.
Here are the final standings for last year:
North
1. Nebraska 6-2 9-5
2. Missouri 4-4 8-5
3. Kansas State 4-4 7-6
4. Kansas 3-5 6-6
5. Colorado 2-6 2-10
6. Iowa State 1-7 4-8
South
1. Oklahoma 7-1 11-3
2. Texas 6-2 10-3
3. Texas A&M 4-3 9-4
4. Texas Tech 4-4 8-5
5. Oklahoma State 3-5 7-6
6. Baylor 3-5 4-8
The 2007 preseason predictions forecast almost the exact same finishes from last year. Oklahoma received more first place votes over Texas but a couple of voters dropped them to third place in the South division. Texas was voted number 1 or 2 in each preseason poll. This barely placed them above the Sooners. The only other change from the standings last season is Oklahoma State above Texas Tech.
The 2007 Preseason Big 12 college football standings:
North
1. Nebraska (6)
2. Missouri (4)
3. Kansas State (1)
4. Kansas
5. Colorado
