Loyal bloggers from each AFC West team have contributed to our 2007 AFC West Football Preview. They created a preview for their teams, a win-loss prediction for each game, predicted their team MVP, and projected the final standings in the AFC West for this upcoming season. Click on each team name to visit its page and read its season preview. You’ll also find the latest news from local newspapers, team sites, and bloggers for each team.
The 2006 AFC West final standings and their record in the division:
1) San Diego Chargers 14-2 5-1
2) Kansas City Chiefs 9-7 4-2
3) Denver Broncos 9-7 3-3
4) Oakland Raiders 2-14 0-6
The 2006 AFC West results cause questions for the upcoming season:
The San Diego Chargers dominated the regular season but had a disappointing playoff run. They lost their head coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator. Will Norv Turner come in as head coach and lead this talented team to the Super Bowl? Is anything less than a Super Bowl appearance a disappointment to the Chargers and their fans this year?
The Kansas City Chiefs start their second season under Herm Edwards leadership. Trent Green is gone as the quarterback. Can either Damon Huard or Brodie Croyle lead this team to the playoffs? Will he pass well enough in order for Larry Johnson to run wild for another year?
The Broncos return with their outstanding defense. Will Jay Cutler stay away from mistakes on the offense to reach the playoffs? Will Travis Henry step in and be the next Broncos running back to run for over 1,000 yards?
The Raiders offense was painful to watch last season. They averaged 10 points a game last season. Their defense kept them close in games but still couldn’t overcome the pathetic offensive play. Will the Raiders sign JaMarcus Russell? Is Lane Kiffin the next young brilliant head coach?
The bloggers have given us their predictions. They split on the Chargers and Broncos winning the division as both received two first place votes. The talent and domination of the Chargers in the division last season hasn’t spilled over to this year. Apparently the critics aren’t convinced Norv Turner is the solution for the Chargers.
1) San Diego Chargers (2)
1) Denver Broncos (2)
3) Kansas City Chiefs
4) Oakland Raiders
