2007 AFC South Preview and Predictions

by Sportprojections

Loyal bloggers from each AFC South team have contributed to our 2007 AFC South Football Preview. They created a preview for their teams, a win-loss prediction for each game, predicted their team MVP, and projected the final standings in the AFC South for this upcoming season. Click on each team name to visit its page and read its season preview. You’ll also find the latest news from local newspapers, team sites, and bloggers for each team.

The 2006 AFC South final standings and their record in the division:

1) Indianapolis Colts 12-4 3-3
2) Tennessee Titans 8-8 4-2
3) Jacksonville Jaguars 8-8 2-4
4) Houston Texans 6-10 3-3

The 2006 AFC South results cause questions for the upcoming season:

The Indianapolis Colts continued to dominate the division and won the Super Bowl last year. Will Tarik Glenn’s replacement Tony Ugoh be able to protect Peyton Manning and keep him from injury? Will the Colts’ sporadic defense put things together and play consistently during the season? Will this team overcome their tough schedule and be healthy enough in the playoffs to become repeat Super Bowl champions?

The Tennessee Titans start the second year of the Vince Young era. Will he become the leader on and off the field to make them playoff contenders? Will one or their running backs step up and carry the load?

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a very tough defense. Can the offense settle on a starting quarterback who can lead them? Can they prevent turnovers on offense to allow the defense to win games for them? Will Fred Taylor stay healthy?

The Houston Texans begin their second season under Gary Kubiak. Will they jump out of the AFC South cellar and become playoff contenders? Is Matt Schaub a starting quarterback in the NFL? Will Mario Williams make them forget about Reggie Bush?

The bloggers have given us their division prediction:

1) Indianapolis Colts
2) Jacksonville Jaguars
3) Tennessee Titans
4) Houston Texans

Once again, click on the team name to view its preseason preview and to vote for how the team will place this season. We want to thank all the contributors for their time and willingness to help us with our preview.

Good call in seeing that the Titans will be taking a step back this year.

I'm seriously considering the fact that maybe just MAYBE the Jags grab the division title over the Colts. It sounds crazy, but think about it. Their defense is very underrated, ranked 2nd last season after Baltimore and if they can establish a QB, how dangerous are they? I say very...

Not a big fan of the Jags recieving core. Their recievers have great measurables but it doesnt really translate on the field, they might be better suited as a basketball team. The defense is solid, I thought they had a good chance to take the divison last year but they really let me down.
