The 2006 ACC college football season was a one of surprises. Cinderella Wake Forest won the Atlantic Division and took the ACC crown in the championship. ACC powerhouse programs Florida State and Miami struggled on the whole, and each finished with a 7-6 record.
Here are the final standings for last year:
Atlantic
1. Wake Forest 6-2 11-3
2. Boston College 5-3 10-3
3. Maryland 5-3 9-4
4. Clemson 5-3 8-5
5. Florida State 3-5 7-6
6. North Carolina State 2-6 3-9
Coastal
1. Georgia Tech 7-1 9-5
2. Virginia Tech 6-2 10-3
3. Virginia 4-4 5-7
4. Miami 3-5 7-6
5. North Carolina 2-6 3-9
6. Duke 0-8 0-12
The 2007 preseason predictions forecast an entirely different season from last year’s. However, these bloggers only agreed on the placement of two teams: every voter selected Virginia Tech to win the Coastal Division and Duke to finish last. Besides those two picks, these bloggers disagree on how the conference will finish.
