2006 World Series Champs?

Finish your fantasy baseball drafts...it's time for baseball to begin! Baseball is really the only sport I follow religiously. I am uber-excited this year as my team, the Mets, are more exciting than they've been since 2000. I even bought a 6-game pack to Shea Stadium...

That's besides the point. I'm picking the Chicago White Sox to win it all over again. Their pitching was dominant in 2005. They added Javier Vazquez. They traded Aaron Rowand, a key member in their World Series run, but received an in-shape and highly movitated Jim Thome in return (whom I think will hit 40+ home runs this year). Bottom line, they have an excellent rotation, blossoming closer, a solid lineup with two big time sluggers (Thome and Konerko)...but most importantly they now have the playoff experience. Anyone beg to differ?

Good point Pean. Indians have some absolute studs in the making in Sizemore, V-Mart and Peralta. Sabathia and Cliff Lee are pretty nasty too. As for you Enybo, "I wish I could go back in time...and put some money on the Cubbies (to lose)!!!!"

I am going to go with the Yankees. I think their pitching staff if better than people expect. Chacon is better and Wang will take a big jump forward this year.

I am being dead honest. No one can doubt the Yankees offense, they have the best closer in the game, and their pitching is better than expected. Randy will bounce back. Chacon will get his walks under control and if Daryl Kile is any indication have a breakout year freeing himself from the confines of Coors. Wang has great stuff, and if he stays healthy could make a big impact. Plus, I bet the Yanks make a trade mid-year moving Pavano or Wright (eating their salary and packaging with a prospect) and bringing back Pettite, Zito or other quality pitcher to solidify any pitching weakness.

Yeah, like last year will happen again for the ChiSox... What's next? Maybe I'll head straight for the blackjack table at Mandalay Bay and hit on 19. Because I'll have the same odds as the White Sox repeating as WS champs.
