WNBA All Star Game Preview - "They're better than YOU"
Tonight at Madison Square Garden! Tonight on ESPN at 7EST!
You get to see the World's Finest Basketball Playing Women fight it out for league dominance East vs. West. Of course, since this is an exhibition game, play won't be as tight as usual, but it will be a fine showcase of the best women players in the world! (And only one of them is taller than me) Even if the play is a little sloppy, I guarantee you will see effort unlike you have ever seen in an All-Star event!
Dawn Staley, after winning the 3 point contest, leads a West squad that includes former MVP and Australian babe, Seattle Forward Lauren Jackson. Yolanda Griffith, Sheryl Swoopes, and Sue Bird round out the starters for the West. Badassed Phoenix Mercury Star Diana Taurasi, Michelle Snow and Tina Thompson, both from Houston are also on the West squad.
The East squad features starters Lindsay Whalen (who led her college team to the Final Four with a broken wrist), freakishly large Margo Dydek, and Nykesha Sales; all from the defending East Champs, Connecticut Sun. The cute yet deadly Becky Hammon of the New York Liberty and Tamika Catchings from Indiana fill out the East starting lineup. Washington guard Alana Beard, Connecticut's Katie Douglas and Taj McWilliams-Franklin, Tamika Whitmore of Indiana and Detroit's Katie Smith, Deanna Nolan and (Karl Malone's illegitimate daughter) Cheryl Ford make up the East reserves.
Watch out for the next wave of talent entering the WNBA! FOUR rookies also made the All-Star squads; Cappie Poindexter of Phoenix, Simeone Augustus of Minnesota, Sophia Young of San Antonio and Candice Dupree of Chicago.
The game should be exciting and high scoring (I predict the West wins 90-78, Lauren Jackson is MY MVP!) There's a chance someone throws down a dunk...(Lisa Leslie has done it before) not that it's still 2 points or anything...
And since there's nothing else on TV tonight... maybe someone's eyes and brain can be opened to the fact that these chicks can BALL. Go West!
