2006 NFL Capsules
 Introduction
NFC East
NFC North
NFC South
NFC West
AFC East
AFC North
AFC South
AFC West
Overview

Note: The ratings and rankings on this page are influenced by the Football Outsiders' DVOA methodology. So when I say that a team was ranked a certain number vs. the pass or rush, I'm referring to that system and not simple gross yardage. FYI. Image:Nflcapsules nfceast.jpg

I'm glad to see you rated mcnabb the best QB in the division, but he's closer to a 9 (Its relative I suppose). But, you're flat out wrong on the lines...both are better than last year and the eagles O-line is actually very good at run blocking (Not to mention, they are one of the biggest o-lines in the league). LBs are bad, you're right, but the DBs are very, very good and yes their bad play was a result of the d-line and LBs...come on haters...you'll be wrong come the end of the season...you'll see!

Eh, Philly's O-Line was nothing special last year, and they didn't really add anybody but rookie Winston Justice.

I think this is comfortably the strongest division in the NFC.

Alex, no this is not the strongest division in the NFC. The NFC South is the strongest. The NFC East is the most over-rated. If you look at what the 2005 NL East in MLB and the 2006 NL East, you will see what will occur in the NFC East this season. One above .500 team and the rest below .500.

I also think the east is overrated, but so is the south. The Falcons are a lot worse than people think. Keyshawn Johnson does nothing for a panthers team, especially since Jake Delhomme only passes to one guy. Mark my words, Smith is a fantasy stud and johnson is a big dud. In fact, for the rest of delhomme's career, take his #1 WR in the draft, he will always be good...

I think the McNabb writeup is funny. You could have said the same thing two years ago -- just plug in "Rush Limbaugh" instead of "TO."

Being a Philadelphia Eagles fan, I don't mind seeing the national media / experts mock the Eagles. Let the Birds sneak up on a few teams. Will make the regular season a little easier. However, when the NFC Championship game is played in the Linc come Jan., remember, you heard it here first. :)

Ranking them 23rd on ESPN was a crime...i mean 15? Ok fair enough, but all of the sudden this team sucks, I don't think so...

Echoing the previous statement, how can the Eagles go from an NFC machine to afterthought? "The NFC is tougher, especially the NFC East." Okay... and so the Eagles are worse? Are their receivers worse than 2003? No. Is their o-line worse? NO (Andrews? awesome). D-backs all of a sudden bad? Dawkins, Lewis, Brown, Sheppard? Come on... it's the same old Eagles people! And they got their top 2 players on draft day! Both lines improve, McNasty and Westbrook have had plenty of rest, and Reid, Jim Johnson and co. are still at the helm. The Redskins were a one year wonder. Brunell will fall apart physically, if not mentally. Archuleta is a liability in coverage. Snyder's a dicknose. The Giants and Cowboys have some work to do on defense, but they should be fun to watch on offense.

First of all the Eagles will not even sniff the playoffs. That is not because they are not a good team it is because the NFC East is NOT over rated. The Cowboys D is going to be tough! The Giants O and special teams are going to put up a ton of points and their D will be much better compared to last year. The skins are going to be the most over rated team in the division. The Eagles are the most underrated but that division is way too tough. Its going to come down to the Cowboys and the Giants. The winnier will be 10 - 6 and all other teams in the division will be 9 and 7. The skins being the only team who may do worse eventhough I hate to count out any team led by Joe Gibbs! Look at the pre-eaeson records and then look at how many points Dallas has given up in 3 games...only 27! The G men have outscored everyone but given up 42 pts in 4 games that is only 10.5 per game. Dallas is at 9! This will carry over to the regular season. Maybe not exactly but it will be impressive!

Also look at the depth at Linebacker position in NY! Watch out the DBs will be much improved if they stay healthy.
