The Results for the 2006 ArmchairGM Sports Awards are in!
Yzerman was one of the most successful players in the Awards. He got two medals and just missed out in another category.
Yzerman was one of the most successful players in the Awards. He got two medals and just missed out in another category.

The United States understandably dominated the medal positions, with Canada coming in in second place behind them. David Ortiz, Steve Yzerman, and the Pittsburgh Steelers were the most successful trio of people.

The battle for Rookie of the Year ended up being between Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby, with Ovechkin narrowly missing out.

A lot of awards went down to the last one or two voters. Whilst the top few were fairly constant, there was still a great deal of variety lower down the ranks. As such, I haven't included all the maths of each one, for the article will go on and on. Suffice to say, it is all correct!

The big award for the Sports Personality of the Year was won by Tiger Woods. Only he and Roger Federer were ever in the hunt to win it, but it was clearly Woods all the way through. David Ortiz snuck in at the end to get third. LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Johan Santana just missed out.

Here is a table of the winners of each award.

Shouldn't Haynesworth, Zidane, and the Bengals count negatively toward the totals of their respective countries?

We don't need the extra points, so I was thinking more about giving the French a negative score...
