In 2005, Minnesota's AL Central title string ended at three as the club hung tough to within four games as late as June 14, but succumbed to the wire-to-wire White Sox. The pitching staff compiled the league's fourth-best ERA, but the Twins could not overcome a lack of pop, especially after star center fielder, Torii Hunter went down for the year in July
