The 1998 San Diego Padres finished with a record of 98-64. They scored 749 runs and belted 167 home runs to go along with a .253 batting average. The offense was powered by Greg Vaughn, who led the team with 50 home runs, 119 RBI, and 156 hits.

The team allowed 635 runs and had a team ERA of 3.63. Kevin Brown led the pitching staff with 18 wins and 257 strikeouts. Trevor Hoffman was the team's best fireman, with 53 saves.
