The 1998 Houston Astros finished with a record of 102-60. They scored 874 runs and belted 166 home runs to go along with a .280 batting average. The offense was powered by Moises Alou, who led the team with 38 home runs and 124 RBI. Craig Biggio led the team with 210 hits for a .325 average. Craig Biggio had a great year on the basepaths with 50 stolen bases.

The team allowed 620 runs and had a team ERA of 3.50. Shane Reynolds led the pitching staff with 19 wins and 209 strikeouts. Billy Wagner was the team's best fireman, with 30 saves.
