The 1996 San Diego Padres finished with a record of 91-71. They scored 771 runs and belted 147 home runs to go along with a .265 batting average. The offense was powered by Ken Caminiti, who led the team with 40 home runs and 130 RBI. Steve Finley led the team with 195 hits for a .298 average. Rickey Henderson had a great year on the basepaths with 37 stolen bases.

The team allowed 682 runs and had a team ERA of 3.72. Joey Hamilton led the pitching staff with 15 wins and 184 strikeouts. Trevor Hoffman led the team with 42 saves.
