The 1996 New York Mets finished with a record of 71-91. They scored 746 runs and belted 147 home runs to go along with a .270 batting average. Todd Hundley provided the power for the team with 41 homers. Bernard Gilkey was the best run producer with 117 RBI. Lance Johnson led the team with 227 hits for a .333 average. Lance Johnson had a great year on the basepaths with 50 stolen bases.

The team allowed 779 runs and had a team ERA of 4.22. Mark Clark led the pitching staff with 14 wins and 142 strikeouts. John Franco was the team's best fireman, with 28 saves.
