The 1996 Houston Astros finished with a record of 82-80. They scored 753 runs and belted 129 home runs to go along with a .262 batting average. The offense was powered by Jeff Bagwell, who led the team with 31 home runs, 120 RBI, and 179 hits. Brian Hunter had a great year on the basepaths with 35 stolen bases.

The team allowed 792 runs and had a team ERA of 4.38. Leading the team in wins was Shane Reynolds, with 16. Darryl Kile led the team with 219 strikeouts. Todd Jones led the team with 17 saves.
