Under new Coach Ron Rothstein the Pistons years of battle would catch up with them as they missed the playoffs for the first time in 10 years with a record of 40-42. Despite the struggles Dennis Rodman would again lead the NBA in rebounding with 18.3. However, his bizarre behavior off the court was of great concern as he is involved in several off the court incidents. Following the season Rodman would be dealt to the San Antonio Spurs for Sean Elliott.
