The 1989 Kansas City Royals finished with a record of 92-70. They scored 690 runs and belted 101 home runs to go along with a .261 batting average. The offense was powered by Bo Jackson, who led the team with 32 home runs and 105 RBI. Kevin Seitzer led the team with 168 hits for a .281 average.

The team allowed 635 runs and had a team ERA of 3.55. Bret Saberhagen led the pitching staff with 23 wins and 193 strikeouts. Steve Farr and Jeff Montgomery were tied for the team lead in saves with 18.
