The 1988 Houston Astros finished with a record of 82-80. They scored 617 runs and belted 96 home runs to go along with a .244 batting average. The offense was powered by Glenn Davis, who led the team with 30 home runs and 99 RBI. Rafael Ramirez led the team with 156 hits for a .276 average. Gerald Young had a great year on the basepaths with 65 stolen bases.

The team allowed 631 runs and had a team ERA of 3.41. Bob Knepper and Mike Scott were tied for the team lead in wins with 14. Nolan Ryan led the team with 228 strikeouts. Dave Smith was the team's best fireman, with 27 saves.
