The 1986 St. Louis Cardinals finished with a record of 79-82. They scored 601 runs and belted 58 home runs to go along with a .236 batting average. Andy Van Slyke provided the power for the team with 13 homers. Tom Herr and Andy Van Slyke were tied for the team lead in RBI with 61. Ozzie Smith led the team with 144 hits for a .280 average. Vince Coleman had a great year on the basepaths with 107 stolen bases.

The team allowed 611 runs and had a team ERA of 3.38. Bob Forsch was the winningest pitcher, with 14 games won. Danny Cox racked up 108 strkeouts to lead the team. Todd Worrell led the team with 36 saves.
