The 1986 Minnesota Twins finished with a record of 71-91. They scored 741 runs and belted 196 home runs to go along with a .261 batting average. The offense was powered by Gary Gaetti, who led the team with 34 home runs and 108 RBI. Kirby Puckett led the team with 223 hits for a .328 average.

The team allowed 839 runs and had a team ERA of 4.79. Bert Blyleven led the pitching staff with 17 wins and 215 strikeouts. Keith Atherton was the team's best fireman, with 10 saves.
